XFactor 2012: Competitive James Arthur determined to make final

James Arthur (X Factor 2012)

James Arthur has admitted he'll be annoyed if he doesn't make the X Factor 2012 final.

James said although winning was a bonus, it did matter to at least make it through to the final three in Manchester in December.

He explained: "On a personal level I would love to be on the final because I am competitive and I do think that when you get into that final three then you ensure longevity within the music industry, and the deals get better. I think it does matter."

Speaking in his weekly video diary for the official ITV1 X actor website, James revealed that being on the show had been a huge confidence boost for him.

"Not only do I feel as though I have developed as an artist but also as a person. I feel a lot more confident and enthusiastic about the future now," he said.

James was coy about his song choice for this weekend's semi final show, instead explaining how his performance last week impacted the judges.

He said: "I really enjoyed performing Let's Get It On, it was very sexual. We got Nicole dancing a little bit, that was fun, and Louis looked excited... which was uncomfortable for some of us.

The X Factor 2012 continues this weekend on ITV1 and ITV1HD with the final four acts singing songs that they hope will get them into the final.

On Sunday's results show, one more act get the axe and there will be performances from Pink and Tulisa.
