XFactor 2012: James Arthur thinks he's made the show more credible

James Arthur (X Factor 2012)

James Arthur has said he thinks he's made The X Factor a more credible competition.

The singer has claimed that acts like Christopher Maloney could risk damaging the series.

Speaking ahead of Saturday night's semi-final, James suggested: "I guess if Chris was to win - and he could win, as he has a lot support - then, as a punter, I'd lose a little bit of faith in what the show was looking for."

And he admitted that he wished Chris would've left ahead of Ella Henderson earlier this month.

James added: "Like Tulisa said, I wouldn't personally buy the album.

"I was much more of a fan of Ella, so would've have preferred that Chris went, over her. But it was me versus Ella, and Ella went."

James said that acts like himself and Lucy Spraggan have changed the game.

He explained: "But I also think people like me, Ella and Lucy Spraggan who are all singer songwriters have changed the game.

'We've got 600,000 followers and people are talking about us as credible artists."

The X Factor 2012 continues this weekend on ITV1 and ITV1HD with the final four acts singing songs that they hope will get them into the final.

On Sunday's results show, one more act get the axe and there will be performances from Pink and Tulisa.
