The X Factor 1012 judges and staff have been told to be nice to CHristopher Maloney in the latest attempt to get him out of the show.
Chris avoided the axe at the weekend as Rylan Clark was sent home after a sing off against Union J, a disappointing result for the likes of Tulisa and Louis Walsh.
The pair haven't hidden their dislike of Chris, while many of the contestants both past and present have branded him a diva.
After slating him for the past eight weeks failed to dent Chris' vote, bosses now hope that being nice to him will see the former cruise ship singer avoid the final.
It's been claimed that Simon Cowell is worried about Chris winning the show and damaging the credibility of the series.
In a very unsubtle message on Twitter before the latest live show, Simon said: "To everyone voting in the uk tonight. Please vote for who you believe could be a star next year. It's in your hands."
Speaking to The Sun, a source said this morning: “The backlash is working for Christopher.
“The more people say nasty things about him, the more votes he gets.
"The feeling now is the less said about him the better.”
Xtra Factor host Caroline Flack got the latest dig in against Chris on This Morning yesterday, claiming he was only getting votes because people felt sorry for him.
She said: “I think what’s happening is people are feeling sorry for him. And that perhaps might be why people are voting — but people are voting.”
Together with Jahmene, Chris has avoided the bottom two all series so far, putting him on course for the final next month in Manchester.
The X Factor 2012 continues this weekend on ITV1 and ITV1HD with the final four acts singing songs that they hope will get them into the final.
On Sunday's results show, one more act get the axe and there will be performances from Pink and Tulisa.
