Rylan Clark became the latest singer to leave the competition in this evening's X Factor 2012 results after he fell into the bottom two with Union J.
Louis Walsh, Tulisa and Gary Barlow all sent Rylan home with only Rylan's mentor Nicole Scherzinger saving him.
Speaking on the Xtra Factor, James said: "It's disappointing to lose Rylan, he's done so well, so well. He's great to have around, he's great for team moral."
James admitted he was so relieved to have avoided the bottom two.
"I think the week after being the in bottom two, the pressure being in the bottom two, the relief was amazing, "he said.
And James revealed: "I honestly think that anyone can win at this point. I think regardless of the outcome… I want to be in the final, regardless of whether or not I win, I'm gong to make the album I've always wanted."
The X Factor 2012 continues this weekend on ITV1 and ITV1HD with Sunday's results show, one more act get the axe, and there will be performances from Pink and Tulisa.
