X Factor 2012: Christopher Maloney blames Louis Walsh for death threats

X Factor 2012 hopeful Christopher Maloney has blamed Louis Walsh for death threats he's been receiving.

We reported yesterday how X Factor's Chris has been the target of hate on websites like Twitter.

Chris last night quit the social networking website after some of the threatening messages sent to him were passed on to the police.

He tweeted: "Ello guys, taking a break from twitter for a bit, need to concentrate on my songs for this week. Ope u understand, thanks 4 ur support. xx"

Speaking to the Metro newspaper, Chris blamed X Factor judge Louis for making him a target after the boyband manager branded Chris a diva earlier on in the series.

The Liverpudlian told the newspaper: "Yeah in a way [I feel ganged up on]. They are making me out to be a pantomime villain and I’m not. I’m just a genuine normal guy from the backstreets of Liverpool that’s done nothing like The X Factor in my life."

He continued: "Because Louis said that I’m an easy target.

"I am not a diva at all. Louis made the comment in the first week and I said to him in the corridor 'Why did you say that?' He said: 'Your name just popped into my head and you’re popular with the public and it will get you in the paper'."

However Louis has continued to attack Chris, saying in an interview with the official ITV1 X Factor website this week: “Maloney is bland and boring. For some unfathomable reason, the public still like him. He really suits his new nickname; shake and fake.”

Louis added: “In my eyes, he’s definitely the biggest diva behind-the-scenes. From what I hear, he demands the most backstage!”

And even Chris' fellow contestants have hit out at him.

In a similar interview with the official website, Rylan commented: “Stuff gets exaggerated but there is substance to some of the things that have been printed about Chris.”
