X Factor 2012: Nicole Scherzinger travels to US for grandmother's funeral

Nicole Scherzinger (X Factor 2012)

X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger has flown out to the US for her grandmother's funeral.

The singer was pictured today leaving for the states with boyfriend Lewis Hamilton after her grandmother died on Saturday morning.

The Pussycat Doll singer decided to carry on with The X Factor live shows at the weekend, perhaps explaining her tears after some of the performances.

Nicole is set to spend the next few days in the States, leaving her acts to rehearse with the show's production team.

It's unfortunate that Nicole has the most singers remaining in her category with all three of her boys - Jahmene Douglas, James Arthur and Rylan Clark - all still in the competition.

A spokesperson for Nicole confirmed this evening however that she would definitely be back for the weekend's seventh live show on Saturday night.

The X Factor continues with its live shows this weekend with a guilty pleasures theme.

Sunday's results show will feature performances from Alicia Keys and Olly Murs, as well as one more act being given the boot.
