X Factor's Christopher Maloney has hit back at the haters, suggesting he's still in the competition because he makes viewers happy.
The cruise ship singer was booed by some members of the audience at the weekend after he avoided elimination for another week.
Despite some dodgy song choices, and a very dodgy jacket that has yet to leave his sleeves, Chris is one of the few acts to have never been in the bottom two.
In fact, if tabloid reports are to be believed, Chris is actually topping the public vote.
"I don’t know whether that’s true or what to believe – but if it is true, it’s amazing," Chris admitted today of those reports. “All I’m doing is my best. I still see myself as the wildcard – even though I’m a fully-fledged finalist I still see myself that way.”
The Liverpudlian singer added that he has no plans to change his winning method, sticking to his classic karaoke tunes.
He The Sun: “I’ve watched this show for nine years and when I watch it I want someone to make me smile and make me dance around the living room.
“There’s a recession going on and people are down and I just want to bring a bit of happiness to their lives, that’s all.”
The X Factor continues with its live shows this weekend with a guilty pleasures theme.
Sunday's results show will feature performances from Alicia Keys and Olly Murs, as well as one more act being given the boot.
