XFactor 2012 results: District3 defend Chris Maloney

District3 (X Factor 2012)

District3 have defended Chris Maloney after they were booted out of The X Factor last night.

Ditrict3 became the latest singers to leave the show in last night's X Factor 2012 results, after singing off against rival band Union J.

The judges decided to send District3 home, with Louis Walsh refusing to vote between the two groups.

Speaking to host Dermot O'Leary after their exit, the boys said: “It’s the most gutting feeling in the world but we just want to say a massive thank you to everybody, everyone backstage, everyone who has made this experience life changing for us.”

They added: “And thank you to the judges for getting us to this point, we are so grateful.”

There were boos when Chris was saved and avoided the bottom two, but District3 defended the singer.

“Do you know what? He’s a really lovely guy and he has got some stick but he goes out there every Saturday night and does his thing and good luck to him," the boys told Xtra Factor hosts Olly Murs and Caroline Flack.

Chris meanwhile was quick to celebrate with his fans on Twitter.

He tweeted his followers: “We did it guys! Whoop whoop. Week 7, can’t believe there is only 3 weeks till final. Can’t believe it. I absolutely love u all xx”

The X Factor continues with its live shows this weekend with a guilty pleasures theme.

Sunday's results show will feature performances from Alicia Keys and Olly Murs, as well as one more act being given the boot.
