XFactor 2012: Jahmene Douglas to become new favourite to win?

Jahmene Douglas (X Factor 2012)

Jahmene Douglas has been 'smashing it' on The X Factor 2012 in recent weeks, and is well on course to win the show.

Jahmene is hot on the heels of X Factor favourite Ella Henderson, according to the betting on Betfair.

The shy 21-year-old was a 15-2 shot when the live shows began last month, but having battled to overcome his nerves Jahmene is now just a 2-1 chance to win the competition outright.

Although Jahmene has cut Ella’s lead in the betting market, the 16-year-old remains the act to beat.

The long standing favourite for this year’s X Factor crown, Ella is now available at 11-8 to bag the 2012 title.

Betfair’s Alex Bake said: “The public have really warmed to Jahmene. They’ve seen him grow on the stage and turn into a world class performer. Our customers seem sure that he’s going to give Ella a run her for her money and take this series to the wire.”

Meanwhile, District3 are favourites to leave the show this weekend. The boy band are available at 13-8 to go on Sunday, ahead of Rylan Clark, a 9-4 shot for chop in week six.

To win the X Factor 2012 – Betfair bet: 11-8 Ella Henderson, 2-1 Jahmene Douglas, 6-1 James Arthur, 15-1 Christopher Maloney, 31-1 Union J, 99-1 District3, 179-1 Rylan Clark

Week Six elimination – Betfair bet: 13-8 District3, 9-4 Rylan Clark, 11-2 Christopher Maloney, 6-1 Union J, 24-1 James Arthur, 90-1 Jahmene Douglas, 110-1 Ella Henderson

The X Factor 2012 live shows continue tonight at 8:05PM with a Best Of British theme.

Tomorrow evening's results show will feature performances from One Direction and Little Mix, as well as one more act being given the boot.
