XFactor 2012: Tulisa doesn't regret saving Rylan Clark in sing off

Tulisa (X Factor 2012)

X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos has insisted that she doesn't regret saving Rylan Clark over Kye Sones on The X Factor at the weekend.

Kye became the latest star to leave the show in Sunday's X Factor 2012 results, after appearing in the bottom two for the second time with Rylan.

The judges once again sent the vote to deadlock, with Kye leaving having received the fewest public votes.

Speaking at the Music Industry Trust Awards, Tulisa said "For me, it was who do I want to see more each week.

"People can complain about my decision but, at the end of the day, if they really wanted Kye in then they should've voted."

Sending Kye home at the weekend, Tulisa said: "It’s not just a singing competition, it’s The X Factor. And the act I look forward to singing each week is Rylan. I’ve got to go with my heart, the act I’m sending home is Kye.”

Speaking on This Morning, Kye previously admitted he was frustrated by Tulisa’s comments, saying he was also a performer.

In the interview after his exit, Kye said: “It isn’t just about singing, it is about performing as well but then I also think I’ve done some good performances, so I didn’t think that comment was really that relevant.”

And he added: “I won’t be taking it on board.”

As well as a bad night for Kye, it was also another tough weekend for Gary, who now has just one act left in his category.

But X Factor judge Nicole gushed about the Take That star at the same event.

"He's done so much for music and so much for this country as well and I think he's real class Gary is," she said.

And Tulisa added: "He's just a very genuine, funny guy. A lot funnier off screen than onscreen."

X Factor host Dermot O'Leary also got in on the praise for Gary, saying: "He's alot funnier than people give him credit for. He takes his job a bit too seriously sometimes but that's what he's there for!"

Meanwhile Louis Walsh couldn't help but get a dig in.

He quipped: "I love Gary, I think the world of him. As a person, as a songwriter, as an artist. He's just not a great judge."

The X Factor continues with its live shows this weekend with a Best Of British theme.

Sunday's results show will feature performances from One Direction and Little Mix, as well as one more act being given the boot.
