X Factor's Lucy Spraggan has been invited to return to the show for the final.
Lucy Spraggan quit The X Factor 2012 this morning, citing her continuing illness.
The 21-year-old said in a statement: "I am gutted not to be able to continue on this journey but I'm not well enough to perform. To accept another free pass having missed last weekend would not be fair on the others in the competition.
"I wish them all well. I would like to express my thanks to everyone who has supported me. There is no way that this setback will prevent me from fulfilling my ambition.
"You'll be hearing from me again very soon."
Lucy's mentor Tulisa added: "I’m so sorry to lose Lucy from the competition.. I now count her as a friend as she is an amazing girl."
Despite quitting, The Sun reports that Lucy has still been signed by the show's management team.
This means that Lucy will still be able to cash in on the show with lucrative gigs, and could also be offered a spot on the tour.
The newspaper also reports that bosses want Lucy to return to sing on the final live show in December in Manchester.
A source claimed that the atmosphere behind the scenes was like a morgue after Lucy quit.
"Rylan, who she had been sharing a flat with, burst into tears,” the insider added.
An X Factor spokesman said: “We are all sorry to see her go and wish her all the best for the future. She has been fantastic.”
