X Factor 2012 gossip: Tension between Union J and District3

Union J (X Factor 2012)

There's tension between X Factor groups Union J and District3 backstage on set, it's been claimed.

The two boy bands have gone head to head several times before, and have both been in the bottom two already this series.

With another elimination tonight as we pass the halfway mark of the live shows, the competitive nature of the boys has come out.

Last night saw District3 "savaged" by the judges, with Louis Walsh admitting he was worried for them in tonight's results show.

Meanwhile Union J wowed the panel with a cover of Taylor Swift that Gary said finally showed off their voices.

A show source The Sun newspaper this year: “There is clearly tension between the two bands. Both are rehearsing like crazy and making sure they always go and see their fans. They hardly speak to each other any more.”

The tabloid reports that X Factor boss Simon Cowell is keen for a new solo singer to win the show this year, with both Little Mix and One Direction already on his books.

As well as another elimination, this evening's show will feature performances from Rita Ora and No Doubt.
