The X Factor 2012 finalist Lucy Spraggan has quit the competition as she continues to suffer from severe illness, it has been announced.
The singer's condition meant she was forced to miss last weekend's Halloween special, with producers controversially giving her a pass to the next round.
However, after failing to attend any of this week's rehearsals, Lucy has now decided to leave the show out of fairness for the other acts.
She will not be replaced, and Sunday's elimination will go ahead as planned.
An X Factor spokesperson said: "Lucy isn't well enough to perform this weekend so she has decided to withdraw from the competition.
"We are all sorry to see her go and wish her all the best for the future. She has been a fantastic contestant."
Lucy added: "I am gutted not to be able to continue on this journey but I'm not well enough to perform. To accept another free pass having missed last weekend would not be fair on the others in the competition.
"I wish them all well. I would like to express my thanks to everyone who has supported me. There is no way that this setback will prevent me from fulfilling my ambition.
"You'll be hearing from me again very soon."
Meanwhile, Lucy's mentor Tulisa commented: "I'm so sorry to lose Lucy from the competition. I have had a brilliant time working with her and I hope I can continue to mentor her in the future. I now count her as a friend as she is an amazing girl."
Lucy's exit means it is unlikely there will be a double elimination this year, as there can now only be one act voted out each week if there are to be three left for the final on December 9th.
The X Factor 2012 continues tonight at 8.20pm on ITV1.
