The X Factor UK will air its tenth series next year, but it could be the final series.
Simon Cowell's ex-girlfriend Sinitta has revealed that the X Factor boss wants to end the show on a high, before ratings decline even further.
Speaking to Closer magazine, she said: “I'm told next year is going to be the last X Factor.
“It'll have been 10 years, so they need to finish on a high.”
It was reported this morning that X Factor boss Simon Cowell was keen for yet another panel refresh for next year's tenth - and possibly final - series
"Simon has hit the roof over disastrous ratings, with The X Factor losing over a million viewers to Strictly, and he's putting the blame on the loss of the girls, claiming It's never been the same since [tag]Cheryl Cole[/tag] and [tag]Dannii Minogue[/tag] went," a source claimed.
This year's series has seen some of the lowest viewing figures for nearly four years.
The weekend's live shows saw the series struggling to hit the 9 million viewer mark for the first time in a long time.
And the ITV1 show is now being beaten by rival Strictly Come Dancing by more than a million viewers.
The current contract between Simon Cowell's Syco company and ITV expires after next year's show.
