X Factor 2012: Union J reckon they're not a cliché boyband

Union J (X Factor 2012)

X Factor stars Union J have insisted that they're not a cliche boyband.

The boys are currently preparing to take to the stage for the weekend's Halloween special.

Asked what makes them different to rival boybands in a Twitter Q&A this week, Union J explained: "What makes us different is were very new, we've got something fresh about us, we've got a thirst for it and determination."

The group told DigitalSpy: "We haven't got a sent in stone cliche boy band road to go down."

And teasing tomorrow night's Halloween performance, Union J added: "You're going to be seeing Union J in a lot of different styles."

The group have become one of this year's most popular acts, but confessed some of the fanmail they've been receiving hasn't been all that nice!

"We've had some pretty weird things sent to us," they revealed recently. "But also some amazing things, we've had a fanbook from fans. So much effort's gone into it. We want to give everyone massive hug."
