Simon Cowell reportedly wants Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue to join The X Factor UK again.
The X Factor boss hasn't been having a great time recently, with both the British and American shows struggling.
The US series recently experienced a scheduling crisis, which has seen its viewers drop to as low as 5 million.
And on this side of the Atlantic, ITV is posting its lowest viewing figures for the show in nearly four years.
Closer magazine now reports that it's the judges that are shouldering the blame!
"Simon has hit the roof over disastrous ratings, with The X Factor losing over a million viewers to Strictly, and he's putting the blame on the loss of the girls, claiming It's never been the same since [tag]Cheryl Cole[/tag] and [tag]Dannii Minogue[/tag] went," a source told the publication.
Certainly the figures back up the claim, with The X Factor seeing highs of up to 20 million viewers back between 2008 and 2010 with Simon, Cheryl and Dannii all on the show.
Of course, if any of them are return then space needs to be made on the current panel.
"Simon thinks only Dannii and Cheryl can save the show," the source continues. "He's contacted them to ask if they would be interested in coming back next year because he worries [tag]Tulisa Contostavlos[/tag] has lot her edginess. He likes [tag]Nicole Scherzinger[/tag], but she'll only do one series."
Even [tag]Louis Walsh[/tag], the only remaining original judge, isn't safe.
"Simon and Louis are friends, but at 60, he's getting too old for it," the source claims.
And on [tag]Gary Barlow[/tag], the source adds: "Simon will want to hold on to Gary - he says he's the only one he trusts to keep things professional."
Simon recently ruled himself out of a return to the UK series after announcing a third US season, with ITV bosses refusing to move the UK show from its current autumn timeslot.
While it seems unlikely that both Cheryl and Dannii will be back next year, we certainly do imagine that the tenth series will - for the third year in a row - see a different judging line up.
[cat c="the x factor"]The X Factor 2012[/cat] continues this Saturday night on ITV1 with a Number Ones themed night.
The latest results show follows on Sunday evening, which will feature performances from Rita Ora and No Doubt, as well as one more act being given the boot.
