Gary Barlow has confessed he's shocked that Kye Sones was in the bottom two.
The 30-year-old narrowly avoided elimination in this evening's t X Factor UK results show, being saved by deadlock against duo MK1.
It was Gary's third time with an act in the bottom two in as many weeks.
He said: "I'm so sad for Kye, I know the work we've put and in and I thought he gave a blinding performance last night. I'm just so shocked."
Speaking on Xtra Factor, the Take That star added: "The talent this year is through the roof.
"Everybody had a good performance last night, and if everyone has a good performance, someone still has to go."
Nicole meanwhile offered her advice for Kye.
She told Xtra Factor hosts Olly Murs and Caroline Flack: "It's not about how you sound it's about how you feel and make us feel, it just needs to be a little bit more raw from his heart and gut."
And Tulisa defended Gary, who has already lost two of his acts this year.
The N-Dubz star said: "He knows what he's doing, it's simply due to the extreme talent this year... luck of the draw. You don't know what's going to happen."
The X Factor continues next Saturday and Sunday night on ITV1.
