X Factor star Jade Ellis hit back at her school bullies and won, her mum has revealed.
Jade wowed the judges with her take on Ultra Nate's Free on The X Factor last night for this weekend's club classics theme.
Speaking to The Sunday People, Jade's mum Stacey Baxter has revealed how the 25-year-old has had to battle bullies in her ambition to succeed.
Stacey revealed: "I said to Jade: 'Look, you are going to have to lash out so they know not to mess with you.'
"One day she did and no one has ever messed with her since. It was ridiculous but she did find her inner strength."
Stacey also told the newspaper how she was proud with her daughter's decision to be open about her sexuality.
She sad: "My children were raised 'you are who you are', as long as you are loved and can be loved then I don't care."
Jade's mum continued: "We gave her roots and now she is using her wings. I'm glad she is showcasing herself.
"It's a big industry and you've got to do some crazy things to get noticed really. Jade never gave up, that's been her dream, to do something for her and her daughter."
