X Factor's Chris Maloney has said that news reports claiming he is faking his nerves have made him feel "unwell".
Chris has come under attack this past week, with both ex-contestants and ex-employers claiming his apparent nerves are put on for the cameras.
The Liverpudlian singer, who has a history of performing for crowds on stage, was originally seen shaking during his audition.
But some former colleagues have described the performer as being full of confidence, and eliminated contestants have also been shocked by his on stage fears.
Speaking about the press reports, which also include claims that he's been a diva to backstage staff, Chris said: "It's making me unwell and I’m worried about how it will affect my family.
“It’s a TV show, but I’ve still got feelings and it is hurtful. The researchers had a laugh about what was said because it’s not true.”
Chris told the ECHO newspaper: “I want this for all the people at home who have voted for me and for anybody who has lost their confidence in the past.
Speaking to DigitalSpy meanwhile, Chris insisted he was still suffering from nerves when performing.
He explained: "They're saying that I've been faking my nerves and stuff - try and sing in front of all them stars and sing in front of 60,000 people in your hometown and [have] people telling you that you're crap and you're not good enough to be on The X Factor. It's terrifying.
"All my nerves just roll into one and I'm still nervous now. I just feel like my confidence is being knocked back again. In my whole life I've never put myself forward. I'm quite a vulnerable person anyway. It's a shame that people say stuff."
