X Factor: Union J annoy fans after cancelling Brent Cross meet and greet

X Factor stars Union J left thousands of fans annoyed this evening after cancelling a meet and great.

The boys had spent all morning gathering their teenage followers at Brent Cross shopping centre.

The group – JJ, Jaymi, Josh and George – were due to appear at the shopping centre near to the show’s Wembley Studios from 6PM to meet fans and sign photos.

The group – who passed 300,000 Twitter followers yesterday – tweeted this morning: “The info you have BEEN WAITING FOR! #MeetUnionJBrentCross shopping centre, London, TODAY at 6pm! Pass it on! Union J x”

They added: “#MeetUnionJBrentCross Shopping Centre, London! CAAAANT WAIT!!! George X”

With the trend #MeetUnionJ quickly topping the worldwide trend list, it seemed that there would be no shortage of screaming teenage girls attending this evening’s event.

And they turned up in their thousands.

But after an hour, the boys failed to show.

They tweeted at gone 7PM tonight: "We are SO sorry, just about to leave BUT the security have told us we r not allowed 2 come as its a security risk. We feel awful. So sorry.X"

Needless to say, many fans weren't happy.

One wrote: "So basically Union j just f**ked everyone that was going to brent cross over. and are not even going any more :S"

Another tweeted: "Waited 2 f**king hours for Union J to get to Brent Cross and they never turned up due to 'a high amount of people' ..such a waste of time."

Quickly trying to get their fans back on side, they tweeted: "To all u amazing people who turned up we are so overwhelmed for your support..it means the world. Tweet us a pic of u now and we will follow"

A spokesperson for the show said: “Union J’s ‘meet and greet’ had to be cancelled as the huge number of people there meant it wasn’t safe for them to appear.”
