Pals of X Factor star Rylan Clark have insisted that the singer isn't fame hungry... although he did audition for S Club Juniors.
Rylan, who has appeared on various reality telly shows before The X Factor, has proved to be quite the talking point on this year's show.
But despite The X Factor seemingly being Rylan's aim of extending his 15 minutes of fame, his best pal Jame Webb says that Rylan isn't at all like he's being portrayed.
Jame has known Rylan - real name Ross - since the age of twelve, and defended him this week in an interview with Star magazine.
"He just wants to work hard and rove Bully Barlow that he deserves his place," Jamie said. "People see him as this fame hungry person who is just trying to do everything but that's not who he is - his passion has always been performing."
Jamie explained: "He always wanted to be a singer.
"He auditioned for s Club Juniors, because me, Ross and Rochelle Humes went to stage school together."
How different pop music could've been...
Jamie added: "Ross will be the first person to admit 'I can't sing like Michael Buble', but when he's on stage, you can't take your eyes of him."
Maybe this week Rylan will eventually manage to convince Gary Barlow.
