X Factor UK: Rylan Clark insists: 'I'm not a novelty act'

Rylan Clark (X Factor 2012)

Rylan Clark has insisted he doesn't want to be an X Factor novelty act.

The 23-year-old escaped elimination on Sunday night, avoiding the bottom two after his dance mashup on Saturday's performance show.

Rylan insisted that he wanted to be taken as a serious singer, but confessed he doesn't have a chance of winning the show.

"If I was to win, this country would pshyically sink into the sea," he said.

Rylan continued: "But I'm not a novelty act like past contestants Wagner or Kitty Brucknell.

"It's something I want to do and I'm not going to be bullied out of it."

Rylan has already gained many celeb fans, including glamour model Katie Price.

He said: "We're in contact all the time and it's nice to have someone there who's been through it all.

" She's the queen of getting s**t thrown at her."

The X Factor 2012 continues this Saturday and Sunday night on ITV1.

This weekend will see the remaining eleven finalists singing tracks with a Club Classics theme.
