The X Factor 2012 judges have held a "crisis" meeting at London’s Arts Club in Mayfair after the weekend's first live show.
All four of the show's judges, host Dermot O'Leary and producers turned up to discuss the series, and clear the air after Sunday night's controversial results.
And they no doubt tried to figure out some more ways of boosting flagging ratings, which are down nearly two million on last year.
A supposed close friend of Gary’s told the Daily Mirror today: “A general meeting had been in the diary for months, but Gary used it to speak to Louis for the first time and to hold his own mini crisis meeting to make sure he got the show back on track.
“He wants The X Factor to be all about the music. It was a pretty frank discussion and at the beginning he could barely mention Louis’ name.
“But they have made some agreements and Gary is confident nothing like what happened on Sunday will happen again."
The source added: "With no Simon Cowell around, it is clear he is calling the shots and is head judge.”
Over 2,000 viewers have complained to TV watchdog Ofcom over Sunday night's show, which saw Carolynne Poole become the first person to be eliminated from this year's series ahead of Rylan Clark.
The X Factor 2012 continues this Saturday night on ITV1, with the results show following on Sunday night with performances from Taylor Swift and Rebecca Ferguson.
