The X Factor 2012 judge Nicole Scherzinger has claimed that she was 'honestly surprised' that her act Rylan Clark was in last night's bottom two.
Rylan was controversially saved when Louis Walsh sent the vote to Deadlock, resulting in his opponent Carolynne Poole being eliminated.
But Nicole seemed a bit perplexed that there isn't more public support for the Essex lad, who has been labelled this year's 'joke act'.
Speaking on spin-off show The Xtra Factor just moments after the result, she said: "I'm honestly surprised, I can't believe he was in the bottom two.
"He definitely, to me, he has his own X Factor, and he's a star in his own right. He's an overall performer and an entertainer and the show needs him.
She continued: "It's more than just the voice, it's the entire package. There are a lot of shows out there that are similar to this one, but it's just all about the voice.
"This is about the voice and the entire package, that sparkle, that entertainment factor, that something that just makes you want to get up on your feet and escape to another place, and [on Saturday] we all went to Egypt."
Carolynne's mentor Gary Barlow has been one of Rylan's biggest critics. Following his first live performance, the Take That frontman said Nicole should be 'ashamed' of her decision to put him through to the live shows.
Gary has slammed Louis' decision not to save Carolynne as an 'absolute joke'.
