The X Factor judge Gary Barlow has described Louis Walsh's decision not to save Carolynne Poole in last night's live results show as an 'absolute joke'.
After the country singer and Rylan Clark came in the bottom two, it was up to Louis to cast the deciding vote on who should be eliminated.
When pressed by Dermot O'Leary to confirm his choice after several minutes of stalling, he chose to go to deadlock, resulting in Carolynne's elimination.
Her mentor Gary Barlow was seen storming off stage in anger, but he returned in time for the start of ITV2 spin-off show The Xtra Factor.
Reacting to the events, he told Caroline Flack and Olly Murs: "It's a joke. I said to him, why send it to deadlock, it's ridiculous, that was no deadlock there at all.
"We always try and judge it on the last performance, that's the idea, you judge it on the performance you're seeing. How can you compare those performances?"
Caroline then pointed out that Carolynne had recieve the least amount of public votes, and asked why he thought this was the case.
"God knows, I just don't know. I try and guess the bottom two and get it wrong every week," he responded. "For some reason she didn't connect with viewers.
Referring to her sing-off with Rylan, he added: "When she was in the middle of her song, I thought, 'thank God, she'll be back next week because she sang her heart out'. I kinda wish she'd sang something like that [on Saturday] now."
Gary still has three acts in the competition, as his candidate Christopher Maloney won the Wildcard public vote.
