District 3 opened the X Factor 2012 live shows tonight, with a unique take on Tina Turner's Simply The Best.
The three guys changed their name from GMD3 after mentor Louis Walsh decided it simply wasn't good enough.
The trio opened tonight's first live performance show with a spectacular green lazer display.
It's just a pity that the vocals didn't match the amazing lighting.
Nicole said: "I have to be honest you have such a soft spot in my heart. You have such a sweet tone, the three of you... but I didn’t love the song choice. If you are going to go with that when that beat comes in I would have liked to see you loosen up and have fun."
Gary Barlow said: "Well done boys, you've got through bootcamp and judges' houses and you've been given the honour of opening the shows... but I think you were about the middle for talent. There's work to do, but you won't be going home tomorrow."
Tulisa said: "Amazing RnB vocals, brilliant song choice, you made the song your own! Only criticism would be I want to see you loosen up, to be yourselves and let go."
Louis Walsh said: "I loved the arrangement of the song and the boys did the arrangement themselves, you're like a young Boyz II Men, I think you're Simply The Best"
The X Factor 2012 live shows continue tomorrow night on ITV1 at 8PM with the first results show, featuring performances from Ne-Yo and Leona Lewis.
