Carolynne Poole has become the first contestant to be eliminated from The X Factor 2012, losing out to Rylan Clark after an indecisive Louis Walsh ended up sending the vote to deadlock.
The pair competed against each other in tonight's live sing-off, with Rylan performing 'One Night Only' by Beyoncé, while Carolynne belted out Faith Hill's 'There You'll Be'.
Kicking off the judges' vote, Nicole Scherzinger complimented "beautiful and talented country singer" Carolynne before putting through her own act, Rylan.
Carolynne then got a vote from her mentor Gary Barlow - who said she "made the decision incredibly easy" - before he handed over to Tulisa.
"The truth of the matter is I absolutely love Rylan as a performer and an entertainer, and with Carolynne I think she has an amazing voice," she said.
"I have to base it on that performance, and it hurts me to say it but I have to send home Rylan."
With Carolynne leading two to one, it was up to Louis to cast the deciding vote.
"Carolynne, I love country music, and I love what you bring to the competition, Rylan, you're the entertainment factor," he commented. "It's so hard."
Louis stalled as Gary and Nicole attempted to persuade him to support their acts, and after much hesitation, he eventually mumbled: "I want to keep Carolynne... I want to save Rylan."
When host Dermot O'Leary pressed him, he confirmed: "I wanna take it to deadlock."
Gary then stormed off stage in anger as Dermot announced that Carolynne had recieved the least public votes and would therefore leave.
It is the second time Louis has eliminated her from the show, after he chose to send her packing at the judges' houses stage of last year's series.
The X Factor 2012 continues next Saturday at 9.20pm on ITV1.
