X Factor 2012: Louis Walsh warns finalists they need to work hard to win

X Factor 2012 judge Louis Walsh has said that the show can produce worldwide stars, but only if they put the work in.

Speaking to journalists earlier today with his acts, MK1, GMD3 and Union J, Louis said: "It's the biggest launch pad in the world. Look at One Direction.

"Look at Cher Lloyd - she didn't do well on the show - she's massive in America.

"Look at Olly. Look at JLS, One Direction, Leona Lewis. It's a great launch pad if you talent and you're prepared to work hard. It's all about working hard."

I always talk to Simon [Cowell]," he said. "I talk to Simon every two weeks. It's hard at the moment because he's in his own show in the US. But I think our show is better.

"I do talk to him though. I've worked with him for 15 years."

Louis was recently a guest judge on the US version of the show alongside Britney Spears, but insisted that he preferred the UK series.

"I think our show is going to do better than the American show. I'm on this show, so I want this show to win," he said. "I think our show is going to do better than the American show. I'm on this show, so I want this show to win."
