X Factor creative director Brian Friedman has said that Nicole will want to win the show this year.
The choreographer, who is back in charge of the UK series after working on the US version last year, described Nicole as a "competitor at heart".
Brian worked with Nicole on the American series last year, but it will be his first time working with both Tulisa and Gary Barlow, who joined the UK panel recently.
"Definitely Nicole is a competitor at heart, and I can see her going head to head with Gary," predicted Brian. "She's going to go for it."
Brian also praised the former Pussycat Doll for the hands on attitude she takes to her acts.
He said: "I can't wait tot get back with Nicole. She is so hands on more so than any judge on US X Factor last year.
"Nicole was right there in the dance studio, evening helping choreograph at times. She's so invested in her artists and she's fiercely competitive. Nicole never lets you down."
And he added to Star magazine: "I'm always excited about the moment they walk out on stage and there's a competition of who looks the best. I'll be keeping my own little tally to see who's winning."
The X Factor 2012 continues this Saturday night on ITV1, with the results show following on Sunday night with performances from Taylor Swift and Rebecca Ferguson.
