X Factor 2012 finalists GMD3 have revealed they're thinking about changing their name to District Three.
The group’s current GMD3 name is formed from their names Greg, Micky and Dan
Speaking to the judges on stage about their name at their audition, the group explained: “It’s just our initials… and then there are three of us too.”
“That’s clever, I like it!” laughed Gary Barlow.
However at judges’ houses, Louis Walsh’s celeb mentor Sharon Osbourne wasn’t too keen, saying that the name sounded like a virus!
Chatting to the official ITV1 X Factor website, GMD3 revealed: “We’ve been dying to change our name for ages. People forget it and often confuse it with GMTV!
“We’d really love our fans and twitter followers to help us out by sending in their ideas for names. If there’s a suggestion we like, we’ll use it.”
Appearing on This Morning earlier today, Louis Walsh teased: “We kind of like this name District Three, District Three could be the new name.”
And the reason?
He admitted, as only Louis does: “Because it’s not registered!”
Speaking on Daybreak earlier today, Louis Walsh suggested that GMD3 and the other acts in his groups category could become worldwide stars.
He claimed: "I think the three acts could be a hit anywhere in the world"
