The X Factor 2012 voting lines will open at the start of the show this series, it has been revealed.
The voting lines have usually opened after every act has performed their first song, with only the final show seeing lines open from the start of the episode.
But Saturday's first live show will see viewers being able to vote from the start, before any act has even performed.
It means that the so-called "death slot" at the opening of the show could now be the most lucrative position in the performance line up.
This series of The X Factor will also see the introduction of mobile short codes to allow mobile phone users to vote easier.
ITV’s Director of Interactive, Ann Cook, commented: “We’ve been listening to our viewers and they are highly engaged and connected.
"They want to have their say on our shows in real-time and to know exactly what they are paying.”
