X Factor 2012: Union J 'not just another manufactured boyband'

Union J (X Factor 2012)

The mum of one of the members of X Factor group Union J have insisted that the foursome aren't simply another manufactured boyband.

Jaymi Hensley, Jamie ‘JJ’ Hamblett and Josh Cuthbert formed Triple J, who became Union J at judges' houses after George Shelley joined the group.

It's something that seems to happen every year on the show, with various results, from the highs of One Direction to the lows of Girl Band.

Jaymi's mum Jackie had high hopes of the boys going in to the live shows.

She told Luton Today: “I thought the boys were all brilliant on the show.

"They are so genuine, how they come over is exactly how they are. George is fitting in really well, he has been to stay here and they all get on well. They really deserve it and they have worked really hard since they got together.”

And she insisted that the group had been working hard for their chance, having previously failed on the show before.

She said: “People don’t realise how hard it is and how much work goes in before they get to that stage. Josh and Jaymi went to Sylvia Young Theatre School together, and they were both rejected from X Factor in previous years, so they have had the same sort of journey.

"To finally get somewhere now is just amazing. I am really excited.”
