X Factor 2012 hopeful Jade Collins has revealed she doesn't know why her dad is in prison.
The teenager from Belfast said before her audition in Glasgow earlier this month: “I started singing when I was back in school probably about 8 or 9. I would always be interested more in in music than anything else.
“I’ve came to The X Factor because I’ve watched it for years and years and I want this to be my day job this is what I want to do. I live at home with my mummy, my sister and my two younger brothers.”
She explained: “My daddy’s been in prison ever since I can remember. I just want him to be here and he can’t be here, I can’t change that and I never can. Today’s audition is so important, this could really, really change things in my life, I’d just be much happier if my daddy was here to see this."
Jade wowed the judges at both her audition and bootcamp to make judges; houses, where we'll find out this week if she's into the live shows.
Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph about her dad this week, Jade said: "My dad has been in and out of prison all my life but people never believe me when I tell them that I've never actually had that chat. I've never sat down and asked him what he's done.
“When I go and visit him, I only get an hour to see him. I want to talk to him about normal things, to get to know him better.
“I don't know why he is in there, we honestly never bring it up."
She added: “I'm happy enough not knowing why he's in there. I don't want to think about it, it would only hurt me too much."
