As if all the ad breaks weren't enough, The X Factor 2012 will this weekend even see ads in the breaks.

The UK show will this weekend start its first ever product placement deal, with Samsung.

It's the first product placement to appear on The X Factor, although product placement on UK television has been permitted since February 2011.

Other shows, including Channel 5's Big Brother, quickly struck up deals with brands to have their products advertised in the show.

The X Factor judges' houses' shows this weekend will see the successful acts given Samsung smartphones and tablets.

The devices will continue to appear throughout the main show on ITV1 and on the Xtra Factor on ITV2 as well on videos on Facebook and Twitter profiles of the contestants.

Product placement hasn't always gone down well with viewers on other shows, and it'll be interesting to see how the show edit the devices into the shows.
