X Factor 2012: Union J describe their "rollercoaster" journey to judges' houses

X Factor boy group Union J have been on a "massive rollercoaster" since making judges' houses, the boys have said.

Union J was formerly a trio called Triple J, who were originally booted out of the competition at bootcamp.

However after Rough Copy left the competition, Louis decided to invite them back on to the show.

Louis also felt that Triple J would benefit by having a fourth member and he asked George Shelley (who left the competition at Bootcamp) if he’d like to join JJ, Josh and Jaymi in the band.

On George joining the group, Louis said: “George loved the idea and as the boys knew him from Bootcamp they were really happy for him to join them. The group then came up with a new name and they are now called Union J.”

Original Triple J member Jamie Hamblett told the Cambridge News this eek of the hectic few months the group has had, after first getting rejected before flying out to Las Vegas!

The 24-year-old said: “It has just been an amazing experience. It has been a massive rollercoaster for us because we got kicked off then we got brought back in.”

Jamie added: “It is a massive achievement to get as far as we have. I’m just over the moon with what’s happening.

“It’s just mad coming from racing to this. It’s just a bit surreal. I keep pinching myself.”

Speaking earlier this week, the group said that their new line up felt "so right".

They commented: “We couldn’t believe it when we got the call about going to Judges Houses and of course we jumped at the chance. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. We’re so happy to be a four piece too. The group feels so right together, it feels like we’ve been together for years!”

The X Factor 2012 judges' houses air this weekend on Saturday and Sunday on ITV1.
