The trio were put in a sing off against GMD3 for the last place at judges' homes and missed out.
However Rough Copy subsequently left the competition, leaving space for Triple J to make a comeback.
Rough Copy had to be removed from the competition due to visa issues, unable to fly out to Louis Walsh's judges' homes in Las Vegas.
“It’s a total disaster,” a source told the Daily Mirror last month. “The band’s progress into the finals was almost a formality and producers were excited about them. But they found out about the visa situation just as they were organising flights’
“They have no option but to axe them from the competition and replace them with another band which has proved a massive headache.”
In a statement released on their official website, the boys revealed: “Unfortunately we have been unable to go further due to one of the group’s members still awaiting completion of a visa application currently being processed by the UK Border agency. All the Judges’ Houses this season are overseas.”
They added: “We are all totally gutted by this as the longer we were in the competition the more we felt we had an opportunity to showcase that “sweet but street” urban flava to the whole world that we do right here in London.”
A spokesperson for the show commented: “Rough Copy has been withdrawn from The X Factor as one of the group has a visa application currently being considered by the UK Border Agency.”
And in another twist, the Daily Mirror report that Triple J get a new member at judges' houses in the form of [tag]George Shelley[/tag]
