X Factor: Lucy Spraggan gets to sing her own song at bootcamp... is it fair?

Lucy Spraggan

X Factor judge Tulisa asks Lucy Spraggan to sing an original song tonight, but is it an unfair move?

This weekend has seen some very strange comments and choices from the judges.

On the one hand, they said no to some acts just because they messed up their bootcamp performances.

But then they put through the likes of Jahmene Douglas, based on his previous audition.

Boot camp was meant to be about taking the singers out of their comfort zone, and it certainly did that with Lucy on Saturday night's show, with her Moves Like Jagger performance being described as "horrible"

Tonight will see the contestants one again asked to sing a song from a list selected by the judges.

Except that Lucy gets allowed to perform one of her own tracks, tea and toast.

Tulisa says: "I want to hear one of your tracks."

Lucy suggested: "I’ve got one called Tea and Toast but it’s a sad song"

And sure enough, Lucy manages to perform her own song perfectly, to get a standing ovation from the audience at Liverpool's Echo Arena.

It's certainly saved her after last night's mess up.

There's no denying Lucy's song writing ability, but we can't help but feel it a little unfair on the other acts who had to pick a cover.

We're also wondering how Lucy will cope when if she makes it through to the live shows and the inevitable theme weeks!
