Tonight saw the first half of The X Factor 2012 bootcamp, with a brutal amount of acts being cut.

Saturday night's show started with 211 acts, with a third being culled right away before even getting a chance to sing.

Judge Gary Barlow said: "We’ve made a good call today and it gives the other two thirds of people who are a left a good chance of learning something going forward in this competition."

The remaining acts were then split into categories: The groups, Over 28s, Boys and Girls, and grouped together in trios and pairs.

Each trio or pair had to decide on a song to sing for the judges, as the panel gave instant yes or no decisions on their fate.

In the boys category, Jae Walters, [tag]Jahmene Douglas[/tag], Curtis Golden and [tag]James Arthur[/tag] all went through. They were joined by, amongst others, Gathan, Ottavio, [tag]Rylan Clark[/tag], [tag]Jake Quickenden[/tag], [tag]Adam Burridge[/tag], James Vickery Joseph Whelan and Joe Cox.

But some stars - such as Robbie Hance - missed out despite wowing during the auditions.

Over in the groups and [tag]GMD3[/tag], [tag]Triple J[/tag], From Above, Duke, Times Red and [tag]MK1[/tag] are all through, as are Rough Copy, Mitsotu and duo Poisonous twin.

Tulisa commented that this year is the ‘strongest year ever for the groups.’

[tag]Amy Mottram[/tag], Jade Collins, [tag]Jade Ellis[/tag], Melanie McCabe, [tag]Leanne Robinson[/tag], Jade Richards, [tag]Lucy Spraggan[/tag] and Britt Love all made it through the in the girls category, with no shocking exits there.

And finally in the overs, Hayley Evetts, Nicola-Marie, [tag]Carolynne Poole[/tag], LaTanza Meabon Whiteside and [tag]Christopher Maloney[/tag] were all put through to the next stage.

They were joined by Kye Sones, [tag]Melanie Masson[/tag] and [tag]Brad Shackleton[/tag].

Which six in each group to make it to judges' houses?

One performance stands between them and the next stage of the competition, as they prepare to sing for the judges and an audience of thousands in the final boot camp challenge.
