The X Factor 2012 hopefuls take part in The Voice UK style battles on tonight's show.

After an initial cull, the remaining acts are gathered on stage to see what the first day of bootcamp has in store for them.

The contestants are put into groups of three; with the boys with boys, girls with girls, overs with overs and groups with groups.

They are told that they will compete against each other in a sing off. They have to choose a song from the list that the Judges have selected.

They have to compete the following the morning.

The battles see groups such as ‘GMD3’ and ‘Triple J’ go head to head singing Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5, and ‘Duke’ and ‘Times Red’ go head to head singing Crazy in Love by Beyonce.

In the girls category, Farrah, Jessica Beckett and Lucy Spraggan do battle with Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5 while Tasha Lee, Amy Mottram and Maisie Berry sing Stronger by Kelly Clarkson.

And there's an emotional performance as Curtis Golden and James Arthur duet over How To Save A Life by The Fray.
