X Factor 2012 judges cull acts before they sing at bootcamp

The X Factor 2012 judges

The X Factor 2012 judges are seen culling a bunch of acts in tonight's bootcamp before they've had a chance to sing.

Around a third of the acts are given the axe within the first hour, as the three day challenge kicks off at Liverpool's Echo Arena.

While the group settle in at their hotel with a party, the judges are discussing their fate.

Gary tells the other judges: "We’ve got 72 hours up here for Bootcamp, it’s not long, anyone at this point we don’t feel are going to cut it, we should send them home."

Nicole adds: "Obviously I was only able to be at three of the cities, so this is a great opportunity for me to review some of the auditions that I didn’t get to see."

Gary concludes: "We’ve got to be brutal."

After the shock axe, which saw plenty of tears, Nicole reacts: "Day one of Bootcamp, we are cutting a third of our contestants, they don’t even get a chance to sing again."

Gary claims: "We’ve made a good call today and it gives the other two thirds of people who are a left a good chance of learning something going forward in this competition."

Louis adds: "I know we are doing the right thing, I know it’s tough, but that’s show business."

Tulisa reveals: "I have never seen this much talent, every category is so strong."

And with the hopefuls already down to just 70, Gary declares: "This is where the competition really begins."
