X Factor 2012 hopeful Melanie Masson has said that the show is her biggest ever opportunity
The 46-year-old wowed the judges with her audition and continued to impress at bootcamp to sail through to the X Factor 2012 final 25.
Melanie has been accused of being a 'professional' artist already, having apparently performed with many stars after being signed by EMI when she was 26.
However hitting back at the reports, Melanie explained: “After I got dropped I had no money. It was hard. I then became a jobbing singer doing backing vocals on two tracks with Stereophonics.
“But I never did anything with Pink. I happened to be a backing singer in a band that supported her on four dates in Germany. I never met her. The only person I ever got to know was Leo Sayer when I toured with him.”
Speaking to the Daily Record, Melanie said: “I am truthful and will always be truthful. I don’t have a manger, an agent or a record deal.
“It sounded like I’d kept things secret and it wasn’t true. You have to tell X Factor everything.”
Melanie, who will be leaving her kids at home for judges' houses this weekend, said: “The X Factor is the biggest opportunity of my life.
“I’ve been close in the past but I’ve never had the chance to take the stage as the main singer. I thought my dreams would never happen.”
