Cheryl Cole is set to perform on The X Factor 2012 live shows in a bid to boost flagging sales.
The Girls Aloud star released her third album A Million Lights earlier this year, but it's so far failed to set the charts alight.
While her first single Call My Name topped the charts, helped with a performance on [cat]The Voice UK[/cat] finals, follow up Under The Sun missed the Top 10 this week.
And the lack of single sales follows reports that Cheryl's upcoming arena tour is struggling to shift tickets.
While Chezza has sold out in Newcastle, some venues including London's O2 Arena are still half empty.
Cheryl will be appearing on The X Factor at judges' houses in a few weeks time alongside Gary Barlow, and may well be on the live shows too.
Sources claimed this week that Cheryl has been "gutted" but by the disappointing chart position of her new song.
One pal said "To say Cheryl's gutted is an understatement. She was very hopeful the single would break the Top 10 and maybe even get to No.1. It's a great song, so she's not sure why fans aren't responded to it as well as she might."
But while a performance on The X Factor is sure to boost sales, Cheryl is keen not to become too associated with the show.
"Cheryl gets that doing the show will get her more exposure, but she doesn't want it to define her whole career," the friend added.
