Cheryl Cole's niece Melissa Armstrong is said to be "devastated" after her audition was cut from The X Factor 2012.
According to The Sun, the 21-year-old is "fuming" after editors decided not to show her audition on either the main show of the ITV2 spin-off Xtra Factor.
Melisa performed Cheryl's Promise This for the judges at the auditions in Newcastle, splitting the panel.
While both Nicole and Louis said yes, Tulisa and Gary said no, meaning Melisa missed out on the upcoming bootcamp.
Melissa is quoted as saying: “I have no idea what’s going but it doesn’t look like I am going to appear.”
According to The Sun, Melissa's family and friends had been expecting her audition to air before the last episode on Sunday night.
One family friend told the newspaper this morning: “Everybody is angry that Melissa’s audition has been scrapped. We can’t believe it. She gave a really good performance and believed she would be featured in the audition shows.
“But after it was announced Cheryl was making her surprise comeback, it all went quiet, I wonder why that is?"
The insider added: "If anything, Melissa is a better singer than Cheryl. It’s so unfair.
The X Factor 2012 bootcamp airs this Saturday and Sunday on ITV1.
