X Factor 2012: Labrinth "forced" to perform on the live shows

Simon Cowell

Singer Labrinth has revealed he's been "forced" to perform on The X actor this year.

The singer, the only act not from a TV talent show signed to Simon Cowell's music label, said he didn't watch the series.

"I've been forced," he is quoted as saying in The Sun this week. "A lot of people think I hate X Factor and think it's s**t.

"I'm just being honest about the way it works. I think artists who take their craft really seriously don't go on it."

Labrinth previously hit out at the show, claiming it wasn't about music.

"I don't watch it - it isn't interesting to me. I think X Factor is… The X Factor, that's it," he said.

Labrinth added: "It's not my thing, but if you want to be a singer then Simon Cowell is your man, but if you are an artist you do your own thing."

Other stars expected to perform on this year's live finals include last year's winners Little Mix and Take That star Robbie Williams.

The X Factor 2012 live shows start on October 6.
