Gary Barlow has claimed that Cheryl Cole will save The X Factor this year by boosting ratings.
The Take That star invited the former X Factor judge to help him at judges' houses, after Take That bandmate Robbie Williams had to pull out.
X Factor boss Simon was reportedly unaware of the change, but Gary reckons he'll be pleased because Cheryl will bring in viewers.
“He’ll be happy because it will bring viewers to his show," Gary said. “He’ll be loving it.”
Gary revealed he was overwhelmed to have Cheryl helping him pick his acts for the final, describing her as "A-list".
He said: “It was brilliant to get her, she is A-list. I said to her, ‘No pressure at all but I’d love you to come and be my guest judge’.
“We’ve always been quite close and when we did the Jubilee together, I thought, ‘I wonder if she would’.
“I knew it would be great for my acts to be watched by someone who has so much experience in this competition. That’s invaluable.”
The judges' houses section of The X Factor 2012 airs later this month on ITV1.
The X Factor auditions conclude this weekend at 8:10PM tonight and 8PM tomorrow night.
