X Factor 2012 singing sensation Christopher Maloney has revealed his nerves almost stopped him from getting on stage during his audition at the weekend.
The 34-year-old wowed the judges with his cover of Bette Midler's The Rose on Saturday night.
"You stole the show today, nobody else is going to get that reaction," Louis Walsh told him.
Tulisa added: "Christopher I am so happy that you got to sing that song for your granddad and I’m telling you that he is up there and he can see you and he is the proudest man in the world."
We caught up with Chris yesterday to chat about his audition, and he admitted backstage before the audition was a tense time for him.
"This year I thought, no, I'm going to go for it, I should have done it years ago, and I just went for it," Chris said about replying.
Speaking about standing at the side of the set waiting to face the judges, Chris revealed: "At the time, I was like... I didn't want to go on stage, if there was a door backstage I would have been out.
"But then my family and friends were all there and I would have embarrassed myself as the lad who walked off X Factor. So I just had this burst of energy from somewhere and just went for it and tried to give it all that I could."
We'll find out how well Chris does at bootcamp later this month.
