Christopher Maloney has become one of the front runners to win The X Factor 2012, following his epic performance last night.

The 34-year-old wowed the judges last night after signing The Rose to get through to bootcamp.

Tulisa gushed: "Christopher I am so happy that you got to sing that song for your granddad and I’m telling you that he is up there and he can see you and he is the proudest man in the world."

Chris has now become the favourite in the Overs category to win, but it's still the younger acts who lead the way.

[tag]Jahmene Douglas[/tag] is the joint favourite with [tag]Ella Henderson[/tag], both of whom appeared on the first audition show this series.

[tag]Kye Sones[/tag] and [tag]Lucy Spraggan[/tag] are also well backed, while [tag]Starboy Nathan[/tag] hasn't even had his auditioned aired on the telly yet!

Meanwhile [tag]Time Red[/tag] are currently the favourite group to win, but still big outsiders at 25/1.

"There were some top performances in tonight’s show and an emotional Christopher Maloney looks set for stardom, while Melanie McCabe certainly looks as though she will prove Kelly wrong this year,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

The X Factor 2012 auditions continue tonight, with another batch of acts that are sure to shake up the betting.
