The Girls Aloud star will be advising the Take That star at the luxury Boughton House, the Home of the Duke of Buccleuch in Northamptonshire.
Cheryl arrived in the grounds of the country house yesterday via helicopter as she and Gary prepared to whittle down the acts ahead of the live shows.
A former reality telly contestant herself, Cheryl told the acts in Gary's category: “I’ve been in both positions — I’ve been here and I’ve been on your side so I know how you’re feeling. I’m just so excited to be here.”
Gary said of Cheryl: “It’s safe to say this person knows a thing or two about the competition.”
The hopefuls will be singing today for one last chance of making it through to the live shows.
The X Factor continues tonight night on ITV1. The judges’ houses section will air later this month.
