The X Factor 2012 ratings continued to decline last night, falling to a new low of less than 8 million viewers.
It was the fourth instalment of auditions, reportedly re-edited by Simon Cowell after a bad reception to the earlier episodes from fans.
But an average of just 7.7 million viewers tuned in to the auditions between 8:10PM and 9:10PM yesterday, down around 400,000 viewers on last week's series low.
A further 500,000 viewers caught up on ITV1+1, boosting the overall average to 8.2 million, but still 400,000 down on last week's combined ITV1 and ITV1+1 audience of 8.6 million.
The show peaked with just less than 9 million viewers, climbing to a 9.4 million peak with ITV1+1 viewers included.
However, The Xtra Factor on ITV2 drew its highest rating of the series, with one million viewers watching Caroline Flack's behind the scenes antics with the judges.
The X Factor 2012 auditions continue at 8PM tonight on ITV1, as the show begins its weekly Sunday shows in the build up to the live finals next month.
