Cheryl Cole reveals she's still speaking to Ashley Cole, Simon Cowell

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole has certainly been through it – she has a failed marriage behind her, battled Malaria, left the American X Factor and recently was involved in a car crash with Will-i-am.

But Cheryl certainly seems to be smiling now. On The Jonathan Ross Show this week Jonathan asks her about the new man in her life, the car crash, her relationship with Ashley Cole and what really happened with American X Factor…

Jonathan asks Cheryl what really happened with American X Factor. Was she asked to leave because of her accent? “No. It wasn’t because of my accent,” Cheryl insists. “That’s something you’ll have to ask Mr Cowell,” continues when Jonathan asks why.

On the subject of Simon Cowell, does Cheryl still speak to him? “I do talk to him every now and again,” she says. “We’re frenemies.”

Cheryl has just finished writing her autobiography and Jonathan asks what made her choose to write it. Cheryl says, “I don’t talk a lot. I’m just sick of other people’s shit to be perfectly honest so I wanted to say my own shit.” But will there be bombshells? “It’s just honest. The truth from my perspective,” she says.

Cheryl confesses that she has warned her ex-husband, Ashley Cole, about her forthcoming book. “Did you tell Ashley you were doing it?,” asks Jonathan. “Yes. I didn’t have to but I let him know it was happening,” says Cheryl. She tells Jonathan they are on speaking terms but when Jonathan asks whether Ashley asked for any changes Cheryl responds saying, “It wouldn’t have mattered if he did, to be quite honest, I just thought it would be nice that I gave him the heads up so he can leave the country two weeks before,” she jokes.

Cheryl Cole on planning her future

Jonathan asks Cheryl about her plans for the future but she insists she doesn’t plan anymore. “I used to but not now, not since I got Malaria and all that stuff,” says Cheryl. “I don’t think like that anymore. It’s out of your control, you don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow.”

The Jonathan Ross Show, 9.55pm on Saturday 8th September, ITV1.
